Obituary

Lucy Nymah Hoffman 79 years old of Brockton died Saturday April 4, 2009 surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter Mary Kyne after a lengthy illness. She was born and raised in Pleebo, Maryland County, Liberia a daughter of the late Nymah and Tagbatah Hoffman. Lucy came to the United States in 1989 settling in East Boston before moving to Brockton in 1994 to live with her daughter.
Lucy loved caring for her grandchildren and would light up when seeing her family. She also enjoyed humming while working around the house. She was a full member of the Calvary Church International in Dorchester where she sang in the native choir.
She is survived by three daughters Mary Kyne of Brockton, Betty Kyne and Helena Kyne both of Liberia, West Africa. She leaves her grandchildren Elizabeth Bucha, Josephine Faijue, Edward Kyne, Maryann Gailah and Promise Nyema. She was the great grandmother of Gregg Bucha and Julius Bucha. Lucy was the sister of Bishop Edward W. Hoffman, Sr. of Dorchester, Sophia Nyemah-Hoffman of Brockton, Ruth Hoffman and Ann Hoffman both of Liberia. She also leaves a host of relatives and friends in Liberia and the United States.
Visiting hours in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday April 23, 2009 6-9 pm. Funeral Service in the Calvary Church International 21 Parish Street, Dorchester Friday April 24, 2009 at 9:30 am. Her brother Bishop Edward W. Hoffman, Sr. will officiate. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. The Repass will follow in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish Center (lower church) 71 East Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
