New Bedford - Antonio Linhares, age 76, died Saturday, April 12, 2009 at St Luke’s Hospital. He was the former husband of Maria (Costa) Linhares. Mr. Linhares is survived by a daughter: Maria Medeiros and her husband Jose A. of New Bedford, 1 grandson: Joey A. Medeiros, a sister: Maria Medeiros of Dartmouth and a brother: Paulines Medeiros of Portugal, a niece and 4 nephews.
Mr. Linhares was a son of the late Odelia (Linhares) Medeiros and Manuel Luis Medeiros. He was born in Ribeira Quente, São Miguel, Açores and has lived in this area since 1959. Mr. Linhares worked as a Fish Cutter at Several Fish Houses until his retirement.
Mr. Linhares' Funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Wednesday at 8 A.M, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery, New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
