Jean C. Dunlop, 82, of Derry, NH, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. Mrs. Dunlop was born in Brookfield, MA on May 1, 1926, a daughter of the late Irving and Frances (Raby) Ayers, and grew up in the Quincy, MA area. She was a resident of Derry for the past year, formerly living in Bow, NH. Mrs. Dunlop graduated high school in 1944, as well as graduated from Goddard College, and the Manchester College of Art. At the age of 65, she enrolled in Middlebury College in Vermont where she received her Masters degree and had the privilege of studying in Paris. Mrs. Dunlop was employed as a personnel manager for Eastern Mountain Sports, and then later retired from Andover Savings Bank as Vice President of Human Resources. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, and traveling with her husband in Europe.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Daniel M. Dunlop of Derry; one daughter, Lynne Roper and her husband James of Bedford, NH; six grandchildren, Stephane Hebert of Switzerland, Scott Roper of Lyndeborough, NH, Neal Roper of Westwood, MA, Andrew Roper of Manchester, NH, Matthew Roper and Jeffrey Roper both of Bedford; nine great grandchildren; her sister, Patricia Cunningham of Maryland; and her brother, Irving Ayers of Florida. She was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Cortazar.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, April 14th from 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, with cremation following.
