Loretta "Lolly" (Pina) Silva, 59, of New Bedford died Monday January 7, 2002 at home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Leonard Wayne Silva, and daughter of Julia (Pina) Pina of New Bedford and the late Henry "Harry" Pina.
A lifelong resident of New Bedford, she was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Silva was formerly employed by S.E.R. Jobs for Progress as a housing supervisor and by American Medical Instruments.
Mrs. Silva was a former member of the Cape Verdean Ultramarine Band Club and the Bisca Tournament Club. She was a member of the U.M.O.J.A. singing group. She enjoyed playing pool, playing cards, bowling, and spending lots of time on Martha's Vineyard. She was well-known throughout the community for her cooking skills and for her kind heart.
Survivors include her mother; 2 daughters, Lorna L. Faria and Ronelle L. Silva, both of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Henry Pina and Larry Pina, both of New Bedford; 5 sisters, Cynthia Lobo of Plymouth, Linda Pina and Coleen Pina-Garron, both of New Bedford, Doreen Pina-Pena of Fayetteville, NC, and Gail Pina-Crosby of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.She was the mother of the late Brian L. Silva.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordFriday January 11, 2002 at 8 AM.Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.Visiting hours will be Thursday January 10, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9. Interment will be private.
