Kenneth G. Davis, 78, loving husband of the late Eleanor T. Davis, passed away Friday, April 10, 2009 at his home.
He was born December 19, 1930 in Tulsa, OK, to George and Gladys (Snodgrass) Davis. Upon graduation from Will Rogers High School, he headed to Oregon to attended Oregon State College (now University), where he received his B.S. in Fish and Game Management in 1952, and his M.S. in Fish and Game Management in 1955. He entered the army in 1954 and served in Germany until 1956 when he was discharged with honors. He returned to the West Coast where he enrolled in the program of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University, graduating in 1961. While in vet school, he met the love of his life, Eleanor Travaille on a blind date set up by their roommates. Ken and Ellie married on December 21, 1958 and began a family shortly thereafter. Ken was employed by Pfizer, Inc. immediately upon graduation, and the company moved them numerous times, finally ending at the Groton facility. The family lived in Waterford for 10 years, after which Ken retired and went to work for Merck in NJ. The family resided in New Providence, NJ for 22 years and recently returned to Mystic.
Ken loved spending his summers fishing off of Cape Cod with great friends from vet school and traveling through both the US and foreign countries with his wife and various family members. Ken was brave enough one summer to rent an RV and take his 3 teenage children and a very large German Shepherd across the country, even allowing his newly licensed eldest to drive for a time.
Ken is survived by his son Terry A. Davis and his wife Karin, of Livingston, NJ, daughter Deborah J. Spector and her husband Tom, of Columbia, CT, and son-in-law Peter Biagiotti. He is also survived by his grandchildren Chelsea Davis, Eric Davis, Lauren Biagiotti, Michael Biagiotti, Hayley Spector, Kendra Spector, and Kellen Spector. He is also survived by his brother J. Wendell Davis and his wife Dorothy of ME, as well as a niece and 2 nephews.
Ken was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Biagiotti.
