GLOUCESTER: John Charles LeGallo, 62, died Saturday, April 4, 2009 in a motorcycle accident while vacationing in Florida.
Born in Gloucester on August 17, 1946, he was the son of the late John A. LeGallo and Jennie (Sinagra) Brooks LeGallo. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged in April of 1968.
John was employed by the Fire Alarm System for the City of Gloucester for a number of years. He was also co-owner of two grocery stores located in both Gloucester and Essex, along with serving in the Merchant Marines. More recently, he was the owner of a taxi and livery company.
A great motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed long rides with numerous bike organizations. He was a longtime member of the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post #3, American Legion, where he enjoyed card games and other social events. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Scott Bartosik of Bradford, three sons and a daughter-in-law, Neil and Francesca (Seniti) LeGallo and Brad LeGallo all of Gloucester, Ross LeGallo of Lynn, four grandchildren, Ashley, Sarah and Tyler LeGallo all of Gloucester and Marisa Bartosik of Bradford, two brothers, Jim LeGallo of Beverly and Frank, husband of Josephine Brooks of Gloucester and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his brother, William Brooks.
A memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church on Thursday, April 23rd at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Prayers of committal will be held privately in the Calvary Cemetery.
