...foundry furnaceman; 85

TEWKSBURY - Ottavio DiCiaccio, age 85, a resident of Tewksbury for more than 4 decades,died Friday evening, June 27, at the Tewksbury Hospital, after a long period of failing health. Hewas the husband of Elena (Lucreziano) DiCiaccio, with whom he had celebrated a 54th weddinganniversary this past Feb. 6th.

He was born in Gaeta, Italy, Jan. 16, 1918, a son of the late Cosmo and Rosa (Collolulo)DiCiaccio. He was raised in Italy, and served in the Italian Navy during WWII. He emigrated tothe U.S. in 1948, and established residence in the Somerville and Arlington area. He moved toTewksbury in 1960.

He retired from Richard’s Foundry in Malden, where he worked as a furnaceman and smelter.

Throughout his life he enjoyed gardening and was also a Boston Bruins hockey fan..

He was a communicant of St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and three sons-in-law, Jo-Ann and her husbandHarry Mann of Dracut, Sandra and her husband Peter Laquidara of Andover, and Joseph F.Gallant of Goffstown, NH, five grandchildren, Jennifer Connolly of Tyngsboro, Jason Connolly ofManchester, NH, Allyson Mann of Somerville, Christopher and Andrea Laquidara both ofAndover, and one great grandson, Bryan Connolly-Dery.

He was also father of the late Rosemary Gallant, who died in 1996, and the last sibling of a familyof eight sisters and brothers.

His Funeral Mass was heldWednesday, July 2, in St. Dorothy’s Church, Wilmington. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
