Panagiotis “Peter” Bonos, of Medford, formerly of Somerville, died Thursday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 84.
Mr. Bonos was born in Greece, the son of the late Nicholas and the late Lefkothea (Argiana) Bonos. He came to the United States in 1967 and settled in Somerville. For over 40 years he worked as a barber at John’s Barber Shop in Central Square, Cambridge, where he developed a strong following and many friends. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cambridge. Most of all he was dedicated to his loving family.
The beloved husband of Vasiliki "Vaso" (Athanasopoulos), He was a devoted father of Nick Bonos and his wife Maria of Potomac, MD, James Bonos and his wife Irene of Auburn, Lefk Lynch and her husband William of Medford. He was a loving grandfather to James, Christina, Peter and Katerina. He was a dear brother of Ernest Bonos and his wife Phyllis of Yarmouth, the late Christos Bonos and Athanasia Konstantopoulos. He was a dear brother-in-law to Anastasia Bonos of Somerville and loving uncle to Ethel Bonos, Ernest Bonos and his fiance’ Michelle.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday at 10 AM followed by a funeral service in the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, Greek Orthodox Church, Somerville, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 5 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
