Obituary



Arlene A. Bushey, 86 years old, of Brockton died unexpectedly Monday April 6, 2009 at her longtime home. Born and raised in Brockton the only child of the late Fred A. and Agnes T. (Cayouette) Bushey, she remained a lifelong resident and was a 1940 graduate of Brockton High School. Arlene desired to be a school teacher but the times changed her career path and she became a hairdresser. She was a 1942 gradate of the International Institute of Cosmetology School in Brockton, worked at Harry’s for many years and retired from Gender’s in 1995.

Arlene was devoted to her Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish where she attended many bible study groups and the ARISE program. She was also a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis at the Chapel of Atonement, Westgate. She enjoyed sewing and visiting patients at local nursing homes and hospitals. She was a member of the Little Red School House, Brockton Historical Society, and the Brockton Shoe Museum. She was very involved in political issues ranging from state law changes to new postal stamps. She is survived by many distant cousins, numerous friends and was a dear friend to the Cody and Farrar families.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Parish/St. Edward Church at 9am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 2-5pm. Donations in Arlene’s name may be made to the St. Edith Stein Parish Renovation Fund, 631 North Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
