Lowell H. Hammack, 71, Clarksville, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL. Burial will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Lowell was born on July 24, 1937 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Homer and Blanche (Keene) Hammack. On June 20, 1959, he married Norma Jean Phillips in Pinckneyville, IL and she preceded him in death on August 21, 2001. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, Clarksville, TN and served in the United States Army in Vietnam and then continued his career in the Army working in communications until his retirement. Lowell loved listening to and singing country music and enjoyed computers. He is survived by one dauhter: Kelly Jean Hammack-Hoagland of Waverly, TN, three grandchildren: Kathleen Hoagland of Waverly, TN, Kyle Roberge of Edwards Air FOrce Base, CA, and Chelsea ROberge of Waverly, TN and numerous dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three sisters: Betty Zimmerman, Corabelle Lowery and Glenna Nehrkorn. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
