Methuen, MA- Angelo Martino, 90, died on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, surrounded by those he loved. Angelo was born and educated in Lawrence to Joseph and Bernadina (LoMasto) Martino.
For many years Mr. Martino, was employed as a colorist with Bolta Products, a division of General Tire. Prior to WWII, Angelo served his country in the National Guard.
Angelo is survived by his wife of 67 years, Cecile V. (Laliberte) Martino, his sons, Ron and his wife Maureen Martino of Newburyport, MA, Dennis and his wife Tracy Martino of Hopkinton, NH, his three grandchildren, Mark and Paul Martino and Tanya VanWert and their spouses, as well as 9 great grandchildren. Angelo was pre deceased by his sisters, Cora Nicolosi, Rose Persechino, Bernadetta, and his brother’s Anthony, Albert, Thomas, and Alfred Martino.
Mr. Martino was the former president of the Park Garden Association on Burnham Road, a former member of the Lawrence Lodge #65 B.P.O.E. and was also involved with the community police in Methuen. Angelo was an avid sports fan and even enjoyed playing baseball with the Shamrocks Baseball Team, made up of the “Old Gang”.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Our Lady of Good Counsel/ St. Theresa’s Church at 9 AM, with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery also in Methuen.
