Obituary

William C. Gerrish, age 62, beloved husband and loving father, took his final rest on April 9, 2009, with his devoted wife, Becky, by his side. Bill fought a courageous battle with cancer in the same manner that he lived his life-with a positive outlook and a keen sense of humor.

He was born on December 12, 1946 in Old Town, Maine the son of the late William F. and Mildred Gerrish. On March 5, 1966 he married Rebecca Willis in Mystic. They recently celebrated their 43rd anniversary with a party he planned with his daughters to surprise his wife.

William graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School . He spent 40 years working at Electric Boat, most recently in the Purchasing Department until his illness forced him to retire.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters Tammy Moscowitz and her husband Joseph and Stacey Noreika and her husband Kent. He also leaves behind his grandchildren which brought such joy to his life. They include his granddaughters Amanda and Missy Chapman, and his grandsons Cole, Bret and Luke Noreika. He will be joining his oldest grandson Korey Noreika in heaven. William also leaves behind his brother Lawrence Gerrish and his wife Barbara, and his two sisters Marion Connolly and her husband Everett; as well as Sylvia Elkins and her husband Donald. He was predeceased by his sister Joanne Gerrish.

Bill will always be remembered for his deep love and talent in gardening. He spent many hours in the yard working on his gardens and often sharing the fruits of his labors with his family and friends.

Bill's family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Saturday from 5-7pm. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 13, at the North Stonington Congregational Church , Main Street, North Stonington. His family will gather for private burial at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date.
