WORCESTER-William F. Sullivan, Jr., 65, of 15 Dunbar Street, died Friday, June 27th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 41 years, Margaret L. (Wixted) Sullivan; a son, Timothy F. Sullivan of Arlington, TX; 2 daughters, Kathleen M. McCullough of Worcester and Dr. Patricia M. Sullivan of Auburn; a brother, Robert T. Sullivan of Worcester; a sister Joan M. Hickey of Worcester; 5 grandchildren; several nephews and nieces.
He was born in Worcester the son of William F. Sullivan, Sr. and Mary (McPartland) Sullivan and has lived here all of his life. He graduated from St. Peter’s High School. He obtained a bachelors of education and a masters of education from Worcester State College. He participated in the Army National Guard. Mr. Sullivan worked as teacher at the intermediate level for the Rice Square School for many years, retiring in 1997. Previously he worked as a teacher for the New Ludlow School. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church where he served as a sexton, a member of the National Education Association, Massachusetts Teachers Association, Educational Association of Worcester, Central Massachusetts Conference of Football Officials where he served as a past president, a member of the Worcester Area Softball Umpires Association, Worcester Area Baseball Umpires Association, Iaabo Board 26 Basketball Officials, Women’s Basketball Officials and Boston Area Field Hockey Association.
The funeral will be Tuesday, July 1st from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a mass at 10:30 PM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, June 30th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
