Obituary

Andrew J. “Andy” Marak, 68 of Franklin died April 2 in the Milford Regional Medical Center of cancer. He was the husband of Suzanne (Malleson) Marak.
Born in Bridgeport CT, September 4, 1940, the son of Emily (Wydra) Marak of Bridgeport, CT and the late Andrew A. Marak, Mr. Marak had lived in Franklin for the past 45 years.
Mr. Marak was a popular Physical Education teacher, coach, and Athletic Director during his 32 years with the Millis Public School system. It was there that he acquired the nickname "Spanky" which stayed with him until retirement. He was also a longtime member of St .Mary’s Parish in Franklin.
Mr. Marak was a capable, self-taught craftsman who completed many projects in his home as well as those of his loved ones.
Mr. Marak enjoyed traveling with his wife on their many trips, both domestic and foreign. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Christopher Marak of Quincy, his daughter, Marianne Kitchenka and her husband, Paul of Arlington and his son, Daniel and his wife, Alessandra of Vernon, CT.
He is also survived by his brother, Frank Marak and sister, Andrea Hubiscka of Conn. as well as his grandchildren Douglas and Lucy Kitchenka of Arlington.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 14 in St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 9:00.a.m.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may b made in his name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Center at Milford Regional Medical Center, 14 Prospect St. Milford, MA 01757 or the Friends of Franklin 50 Corbin St. Franklin, MA 02038.
