Obituary

Roland J. Ducharme, age 79, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at Fairhaven Healthcare Center in Lowell. He was the husband of Lorraine I. (Heneault) Ducharme of Nashua.


He was born in Lowell on October 8, 1929, a son of the late Joseph and Maria (Tellier) Ducharme. Roland was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.


Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a cook with the Bedford VA for over 25 years. Roland enjoyed bowling, cribbage and the outdoors.


Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Gloria and Alan Murdock of Derry, NH, Pauline Ducharme and her partner Lisa Hagemann of Nashua, and Elaine Landry and her partner, Arthur Hooker of Nashua; two brothers, Joseph "Moe" Ducharme of Lowell and Raymond Ducharme of Marietta, OK; 7 grandchildren, Jacob Murdock of Derry, Roland Landry and his partner, Jamie Maccini, Joshua Landry, Matthew, Patrick, Samantha and Sabrina Hooker all of Nashua; one great grandson, Kyle Landry of Nashua; also many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Claire Dickieson, Jeanne Sousa, Rita Quirico, Gerald, Maurice and Bernard Ducharme.

At his request, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Prayer Service on Thursday, April 9 at 11:30am at the Chapel of St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Assoc., Mass Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
