Ernest T. Besse, 89, of Westport passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at Sacred Heart Home in New Bedford after a brief illness. He was the husband of Helena (Gwozdz) Besse.
Born in Dartmouth, son of the late Aaron and Henrietta A. (Vieira) Besse, he had lived in Westport for the past 68 years. Prior to retirement, he was a machinist for the former New Bedford Gear. Mr. Besse was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport.
Including his wife, survivors include: a son: Ronald E. Besse and his wife Kathleen of Westport; 2 daughters: Carole A. Johnson and her husband Gary of Westport and Elaine M. Stringer and her husband David of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Private arrangements were held under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home.
