Joan A. Reed, 70

Joan A. (Lashua) Reed, 70, of Plainville passed away peacefully in the presence of her adoring family on Monday April 6, 2009 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of Raymond E. Reed.
Born in Boston, MA on April 20, 1938 she was a daughter of the late Richard J. and Josephine M. (Roy) Lashua.
Joan grew up in Stoughton, was educated in Stoughton schools and was a graduate of St. John’s High School in Canton.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Reed had worked as a sales person at Bradford RV Center in Raynham and at MacDonald’s RV Center in Plainville. Her previous job of which she was quite proud of her accomplishments was as a sales representative for radio station WARA in Attleboro and at radio station WJCC in Norfolk.
When younger, she was an accomplished roller skater and was a former national champion. Her other hobbies included sewing, playing guitar, camping and most of all spending time with her family. A resident of Plainville for over 20 years she had formerly made her home in North Attleboro, Mansfield and Raynham.
In addition to her beloved husband of 35 years she is survived by her devoted sons Gary M. Bigley and his wife Robin of Plymouth and Scott A. Bigley of Copperas Cove, Texas. She was the dear sister of Shirley J. Bennett of Mansfield and was the cherished grandmother of Ryan and Andrew Bigley of Plymouth and William and Jonathan Bigley of Forest Hill, Maryland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her former husband Paul J Bigley of Fort Myers, Florida.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday April14th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be Greenwood Cemetery in Rehoboth.
Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Joan with a donation in her memory to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
