WORCESTER
Timothy F. Dumphy, 81 of Worcester died Sat. April 4 in the Shrewsbury Nursing Home.
He leaves two brothers, Rev. Charles J. Dumphy of Shrewsbury and John J. Dumphy and his wife Elizabeth of Gainsville, GA; a sister, Maribeth McGowan and her husband Thomas of Mesa, AZ; four nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews. He was born in Springfield, son of Timothy F. and Mary M. (O’Connor) Dumphy and graduated from St. John’s High School class of 1944, College of the Holy Cross class of 1947 and received his Masters Degree from Boston University. He served in the Army stationed in Germany from 1950-1952.
Timothy was a Teacher at Burncoat Junior High School, the former Classical High School , Doherty Memorial High School and at the former Marillac Manor before retiring. Following his retirement from the Worcester school system he became a Librarian at the College of the Holy Cross. He was a member of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post #435, a longtime blood donor for the American Red Cross and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He most recently attended St. John’s Church.
The funeral will be held Wed. April 8, from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 11 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Tues. April 7, from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
