Marion Wallace “Haywire” Dorden, 75, of Waldorf, Maryland, formerly of Tifton, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009, in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Masonic rites. Magistrate Judge Doug Jones will officiate with burial to follow. Neil Clements, Harvey Hatcher, John Henderson III, Roger Dill, Kenny Brownlee, Cooper Browning, Lamar Jackson and Clarence Smith will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Masons. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals and on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 12:00 noon until the hour of the services.
Mr. Dorden was born on April 22, 1933 in Tift County and was the son of Willie Dorden and Annis Belflower Dorden, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Christine Mantooth. He was a retired electrician and installed airport lighting systems. He served in the United States Navy and was a Mason for 50 years.
Mr. Dorden is survived by his wife, Iva Dell McIntosh Dorden of Waldorf, Maryland; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Barbara Dorden of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Iva and Andy Kimmell of Waldorf, Maryland; two brothers, Roger Dorden of Ocilla and James Harold Dorden of Tifton; and four grandchildren, Michael J. Dorden, Jr., Kristen Dorden, Jessica Nicole Dorden and Iva Dell Kimmell.
