Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Marion M. (Hodgson) Card, 99, formerly of Wheeler’s Point, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 in the Den-Mar Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Card, who died in July of 1995.
Born in Warren on September 23, 1909, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Edith M. (Law) Hodgson. She was a graduate of Warren High School class of 1927.
After attending the Post Business Institute in Worcester, she worked for five years as secretary to the Superintendent of Rice, Barton & Fales, a manufacturing firm in Worcester.
In 1937, she and Robert were married in Warren. Ten years later, they moved to Gloucester when Mr. Card became the Science Head at the Gloucester High School.
Mrs. Card was a member of the Trinity Congregational Church and the Gloucester Women’s Club. She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Cape Ann Thrift Shop.
She is survived by her son, Bradbury T. Card of Peabody, many nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews and dear friends. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Jonathan Card and her brother, William E. Hodgson, Jr.
Her memorial service will be held on Friday afternoon, April 17th in the Trinity Congregational Church at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment will be held privately in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, Maine. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to Bridgewell, Development Office, 471 Broadway, Lynnfield, MA 01940 or Trinity Congregational Church, Memorial Fund, 70 Middle St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
