
SALEM - Tulio J. Peruffo, 84, of Salem, husband of Pearl (Guilmet) Peruffo, died Friday morning, April 3, 2009 at the Salem Hospital.
Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Anthony and Camilla (Ciman) Peruffo and was a graduate of Peabody High School. He was a resident of Salem for most of his life.
A Navy veteran of WWII, he attained the rating of Pharmacist’s Mate Second Class.
Mr. Peruffo was appointed to the Salem Fire Department on January 24, 1954, promoted to Lieutenant on June 4, 1961, promoted to Captain on April 18, 1971 and retired on Feb. 21, 1986 with 32 years of service.
He enjoyed golf and was a member of the 10th Hole Club at the Olde Salem Green golf course.
Besides his wife, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lainey & Joseph Sullivan of Salem, one son and daughter-in-law, Retired Captain, Salem Fire Department, Joseph and Adele Peruffo of Salem, 4 grandchildren, Christina Forestier of Malden, Anthony “A.J.” Peruffo, Kerri Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, all of Salem, 3 great grandchildren, Samantha Forestier, Olivia Forestier and Max Forestier, all of Malden, one sister, Joan Girard of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Gambale.
His funeral service will be held Monday, April 6, 2009 at 8:45 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem. Visiting hours are Sunday, 2 to 6 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
