SPENCER-Joseph S. Wamback, 67, of 48 Irving Street formerly of 253 Cambridge Street, Worcester died Wednesday, June 25th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Shirley M. (Lemieux) Wamback; 1 son, Gerard S. Wamback; a daughter, Ann M. Montville of Spencer; 2 brothers, Stephen and John Wamback both of Worcester; a sister, Rita Grenier of Worcester; 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 2 brothers, Louis and Gerald Wamback and 2 sisters, Adele Wamback and Marie Pietrzak predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of Locke and Elvena (Boudreau) Wamback and lived in Worcester most of his life before recently moving to Spencer. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. Mr. Wamback was employed as a printer for Saltus press for the past 4 years. Previously, he worked as a printer for J.S. Wesby & Sons for many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Worcester where he served as a lector and an Eucharistic minister. He was also involved with the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was Co-Chairman of the Ecumenical Committee. Mr. Wamback was a trustee for the Worcester County Youth Program and belonged to the Clowns of America.
A memorial service will be Monday, June 30th at 10:00 AM in St. Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton Street. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge Street, Worcester, MA 01610 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
