TAUNTON - Serafim T. DeBrito, husband of Maria Lourdes (Avila) DeBrito, died at Morton Hospital on April 2, 2009.
He was 80.
Born in Terceira, Azores, he was the son of the late Francisco and Inacia (Silva) Brito.
Educated in Portugal, he moved to the Taunton area in 1966, and was employed as a shoe cutter for the Corcoran Shoe Co. and the Frank Noone Shoe Co. before retiring many years ago.
Mr. DeBrito was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves 2 sons, Dimas DeBrito of New York City, and Fernando DeBrito of E. Taunton; 3 daughters, Ana M. Silva and Camilla F. DeBrito, both of Taunton, and Ilidia M. DeBrito of Attleboro; a sister, Rosa Jorge of Taunton; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Carlos DeBrito and the brother of the late Maria Brito, Ana Amaro, Francisco Brito DaSilva, and Jose Brito.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Saturday, April 4th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
