Obituary

WEBSTER - Theresa S. (Scheffler) Grydzinski Polomski, 90, died Thursday, April 2, in Webster Manor. Her first husband of 25 years, Alexander Grydzinski, died in 1965. Her second husband of 33 years, Joseph S. Polomski, died in 2000.

She leaves 2 daughters, Carolyn J. Wabrek and her husband Dr. Alan Waberk of Avon, CT, and Cynthia E. Bellerive and her husband Herb of Webster; 3 grandchildren, Chad Wabrek and his wife Chelle of Louisville, KY, Heidi McCormick and her husband James of New Hartford, CT, and Stefanie Bellerive of Orlando, FL; 3 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Baldyga of Southbridge; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 3 brothers Vincent, Bernard and Francis Scheffler.

She was born in Webster, the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Ignasiak) Scheffler and was a lifelong resident. She attended Bartlett High School.

Mrs. Polomski was an inspector at the American Optical Company in Southbridge for 25 years before she retired in 1980. She was a member of the American Optical Company Quarter Century Club.

She was a communicant of Saint Louis Church and a member and past vice-president of the Saint Louis League of Catholic Women. She had been a weekly adorer at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. She was a charter member and past president of the Webster Emblem Club. She was a past president of the local chapter of AARP and had served the organization as state director. She was a longtime member and honorary director of the Hubbard Regional Hospital Guild; she volunteered in the purchasing department at the hospital for 36 years. She belonged to the Webster Women’s Club and the Webster-Dudley Historical Society. She was a former member of the Serra Club of Southern Worcester County.

She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She made afghans for the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke and for Abby’s House and Jeremiah’s Inn, both in Worcester. She took particular delight in visiting her daughter’s first grade class at Christmastime to read stories to the children and give a pair of mittens she had made to each child.

The funeral will be held Monday, April 6, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, April 5, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to Saint Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake Street, Webster, MA 01570.
