Obituary

LEICESTER; William D. Cullen,Sr.,82, formerly of 27 Second St., in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died Thursday, April 2 in Quaboag on the Common in W.Brookfield.
He was the husband of Lorraine P. (Soucie) Cullen who died in 1992. He leaves three sons William D. Cullen, Jr. and his companion Joann of Martville, N.Y., Wayne C. Cullen and his wife Priscilla of W.Brookfield, and Stephen W. Cullen of Princeton, a daughter Linda S. Cullen of Worcester, a sister Priscilla Graves of Leicester, seven grand and seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his twin sister Wilma Jones and brothers Robert and Stephen Cullen.
Bill was a chef at several area restaurants including the Chadwick Diner, Christmas Inn, Salem Cross and Hillcrest Country Club.
He was born in Worcester, the son of John P. and Vera A. (Millard) Cullen. He later served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy. He was involved with many local veterans affairs including membership in the 40 & 8, Voiture #1113, Past Commander Gaudette-Kirk Post 138, 50th. Anniversary Chairman, member and Past Commander of Post 443 Cherry Valley American Legion Post, and founder of its color and honor guard. Former member of Worcester Lodge of Elks 243 and was named Elk of the Year in 1981. He was a Leicester Firefighter for 21 years on Engine 2, Cherry Valley station. He was affectionately known throughout town as "Mr. Baseball", and was a great Red Sox fan.
Funeral services for Bill will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 9:30 a.m. in the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Friday, April 3 from 5 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, Young Rd., E.Brookfield, Ma. 01515.
