
Walter M. Pihl, 88 years old, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, died Sunday at Lowell General Hospital. He was the widow of the late Joyce A. (Berube) Pihl who died in 1997.
Born in Lowell on November 14, 1920, he was a son of the late John A. and Ellen V. (Hedlund) Pihl and received his education in the Chelmsford schools.
During World War II, Mr. Pihl served his country in the United States Navy. For over forty years, he was employed as a tool and dye maker for the former Field Machine and Tool Co. in Wilmington.
He is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Adrith and her husband Fred Carleton of Virginia and Christine and her husband Ziad Farah of South Yarmouth, MA; two grandchildren, George Farah and Dru Sisson and a brother Wilfred Pihl of Worcester.
