Obituary

Worcester- John F. Horuzek, 91, of 139 Dorchester Street, died Wednesday, June 25, in St. Mary Health Care Center.

His wife of 22 years, Janina (Grzanka) Horuzek, died in 1967. He leaves two sons, Francis J. Horuzek and Richard J. Horuzek, both of Worcester; 2 granddaughters; a great grandson. He was born in Worcester, son of Jozef and Michalina (Korenda) Horuzek, and lived in Poland, before moving back here in 1947.

Mr. Horuzek was a machine assembler for many years at Leland Gifford Company, retiring in 1972.

He was a veteran of the Polish Army, serving in the cavalry, and was a prisoner of war from 1939 to 1945.

He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Parish and the Polish Army Veterans of America, Post 52, and its Color Guard. He also volunteered in the adult activity program at Friendly House.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Memorial Fund, 34 Ward Street, Worcester, MA 01610. Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward Street, is directing arrangements.
