Nora Cox Barry, 90, of Tifton died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Golden Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Robert Thompson will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Buddy Lindsey, Tommy Mullis, John Lindsey, John Setters, Stephen Kelly and Nat McCalvin will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Barry was born on June 26, 1918 in Tift County and was the daughter of William Cox and Thelma Burch Cox, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Allison Barry, who died in 1978; one brother, William Cox; and four sisters, Lula McGough, Edna Crum, Mae Hobby and Ruby O’berry. She was a retired Pink Lady and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barry is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Carlton and Dorothy Barry of Tifton; three grandchildren and their spouses, Wayne and Sandra Duncan, Rick and Carleen Connor, and Tommy and Janet Barry; and four great grandchildren, Zach Duncan, Jedd Duncan, Esibella Connor and Hannah Sidney Barry.
