Arthur Garlin Campbell, 89, of Givhans, went on to be with his Lord on March 30, 2009.
First married to Lucille Southern Campbell, deceased, later remarried to Lavern Price Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was born March 20, 1920 in Givhans, South Carolina, son of the late Arthur and Eunice Campbell. He graduated from Ridgeville High School. He served in the United States Navy and retired from Charleston Naval Shipyard (Shop 56).
He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and a friend to all who enjoyed farming and watching Clemson football. He was a lifetime member and servant of Trinity United Methodist Church in Givhans.
Mr. Campbell had many wonderful caregivers during his illness. Special thanks to Annie Boyd, Nancy Lott, Emily Murdaugh, Jan Pittman, Teresa Wheeler and a very special thanks to Francine Campbell.
Survivors include 2 sons: Joseph (Linda) Campbell of Charleston, and David (Francine) Campbell of Givhans, 2 daughters: Margaret (Raymond) Almers of New Hope, SC and Judi (Jim) Sanders of Mt. Gilead, NC. 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 1 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 South Main Street, Summerville. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o’clock Tuesday evening.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist church, 252 Campbell Road, Ridgeville, SC 29472.
