MILLBURY- Ruth E. (Alexander) Sundberg, 91, of Millbury, formerly of Worcester, a retired nurse, died Monday, June 9, in SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation.
Her husband of 54 years, Clarence Sundberg, predeceased her. She leaves two sons, Donald Sundberg of Madbury, N.H., and Gary Sundberg of Princeville, Hawaii; a daughter, E. Margaret Gentleman of Rutland; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nephews. A son, Richard Sundberg, predeceased her. She was born in Leominster, daughter of Oliff and Etta (Nelson) Alexander, and moved to Worcester in 1925. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in 1933.
Mrs. Sundberg was a nurse at Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1974 as an administrative supervisor. She was a member of Bethany Christian United Parish, and was financial secretary and a member of the stewardship, chancel and women's fellowship committees.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester (www.NordgrenMemorialChapel.com). Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
