Bessie Taylor McCook Henderson, 82, of Augusta, formerly of Moultrie, died Monday, March 30, 2009, at her residence in Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Sue Clayton will officiate with burial to follow in Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Earl Tawzer, Stacy Hogan, Ricky Hogan, Shane McCook, Joshua Sanders and Eddie McCook will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. McCook-Henderson was born on February 1, 1927 in Alapaha (Berrien County) and was the daughter of Henry Taylor and Caroline Grantham Taylor, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Carl McCook; her second husband, Jack "Tim" Henderson, who died on June 6, 2007; four brothers; and two sisters. She was a homemaker and retired from J. P. Stevens. She was a member of a non-denominational church.
Mrs. McCook-Henderson is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Ralph McCook of Augusta, Curtis McCook of Waynesboro, and Wendell and Laura McCook of Augusta; two daughters and one son-in-law, Annette and Richard Hogan of Golden, Mississippi, and Caroline Tawzer of Augusta; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one great-great-great grandchild; and two step-children, Jimmy Henderson of Moultrie and Mary Ann Henderson of Moultrie.
