Francis F. Rezendes of Taunton died at Morton Hospital on March 28, 2009 after a long illness.
He was 89.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Evelyn (Lecuyer) Rezendes.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Frank and Rose (King) Rezendes.
Educated in Taunton schools, he graduated from Taunton High School in 1938.
A lifelong resident of Taunton, Mr. Rezendes was employed as a maintenance man for the TMLP for over 34 years, retiring in 1977.
Not one to be idle, he studied to become a real estate broker and subsequently worked for Jack Conway Real Estate for some time.
He later returned to engineering and was employed by Servisco in E. Taunton, until poor health forced him into permanent retirement.
Frank was a lifelong music lover. He was a professional singer and did much club work.
He was also a church soloist and worked with Charles Tripp and Gay Viera.
He studied voice at Shillinger House in Boston (now Berkley School of Music).
A communicant of Holy Family Church in E. Taunton, and member of the Portuguese American Civic Club, he was a longtime member of the YMCA.
Besides his wife, he leaves a nephew, Ronald Bettencourt and his wife Rosemary of Taunton.
He was predeceased by a sister, the late Veronica Bettencourt and her husband John.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Thursday, April 2nd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church, E. Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
