Rose M. Gioia, 85, passed away at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford on March 27th, 2009. She was born in Boston on June 23rd, 1923 to her parents Carmine and Celeste (Grello) Cavallo. Rose was raised on Stillman Street in the North End of Boston before moving to Peabody and eventually settling in Medford. Along with her husband, she owned and operated “Four Winds”, a well known restaurant in the North End which is presently owned and operated by her son Thomas. She worked at the restaurant for 45 years. She was also a homemaker who was devoted to her family. She is survived by her children, Thomas Gioia and his wife Nancy of Malden, Karen Chiarenza and her husband Anthony of Medford and Lori Gioia of Nashua, New Hampshire; by her grandchildren, Anthony and Lauren Chiarenza and Andrea Gioia; and by her great grandson Anthony Chiarenza. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Gioia; and by her siblings, Joseph, Anthony and William Cavallo, Mary Cuoco and Jennie Sullo. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden on Monday March 30th at 9 AM. At the request of her family, there are no visiting hours.
