Paul J. Sivertsen, 71, of Mansfield formerly Winthrop passed away on Saturday March 28, 2009 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born in Winthrop, MA on March 3, 1938 he was a son of the late Francis and Dorothy (Minton) Sivertsen.
Paul grew up in Winthrop, was educated in East Boston Parochial schools and was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston. He furthered his studies at Boston College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and received his Masters degree in Classic Languages.
A retired language teacher he had taught at St. Sebastian’s School and at Boston College before retiring.
He had made his home in Mansfield for the past 9 years and had attended St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. Paul was a Boston College Alumnus who enjoyed reading, music, his favorite being jazz and held a special place in his heart for animals. He was an extremely gifted person and had written scripts for various comedians including Steve Allen and Billy Kelly.
He is survived by his dear sisters Joan Doyle and her husband Vin of Scituate, Sister Marie Esther of Terre Haute, Indiana, Ann Sivertsen of Dennisport, Judy Martin and her husband Bruce of Mansfield and the late Marie Sivertsen. He is also survived by 4 nieces, 3 nephews, many grand nieces and nephews and his best friend “Toby”.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday April 3rd at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop.
Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Mass on Friday morning beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
