LEICESTER: Eugene P. Delaney,72, of 12 Howard Terr., in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died Friday, March 27 in St. Vincent Hospital,Worcester after being stricken ill at home.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Judith M. (Aselton) Delaney, a son Kevin P. Delaney of Leicester and a daughter Colleen T. Denham of Webster, five grand children William, Douglas and Ashley Denham, Brian and Carol Delaney, a great grand daughter Alayna Albanese, and several nephews and nieces.
Mr. Delaney was a letter carrier for more than 30 years out of the Greendale Branch of the U.S. Post Office before retiring in 2002.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of George and Margaret (Moriarty) Delaney. He graduated from the former Commerce High in Worcester and later served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church. He was a good husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed sports and playing golf in the Worcester Post Office Letter Carriers League at Hillcrest Country Club.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 31 from the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 759 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow with Military Honors in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Monday, Mar. 30 from 5 to 7p.m.
