Robert E. “Bob” Sims, 68, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, March 29, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Charlotte Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9, Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Sims was born September 30, 1940 in Chesterfield, South Carolina to the late William and Minnie Sims. He lived in the community for the past twenty-two years. Mr. Sims was a carpenter, former owner/operator of Sims Handyman Service, former employee of Lewis Construction in Douglas, Massee Builders in Fitzgerald and had worked in the oil fields and off shore oilrigs in Houma, Louisiana. He was a member of the Holiness faith.
He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Alana Sims of Fitzgerald; stepdaughter and husband, Derinda & Darrell Lewis of Fitzgerald; stepson, Jimmy Wayne Brady of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Gracie Sims, Brandon & Jesse Lewis and Victoria & Veronica Brady; sisters & brother-in-law, Rebecca Autlement of Houma, LA and Clara & Joe Walton of Boonville, NY; brother & sister-in-law, Bud & Louise Sims of Pageland, South Carolina as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister and 4 brothers.
