Mrs. Betty Smith Marsh, 77, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, March 24 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Friday, March 27, at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Goodlett and Rev. B.J. Funk officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9, Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Marsh was born July 20, 1931 in Fitzgerald to the late J. Tom and Norma Griffin Smith. She lived in the community most of her life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1947. Mrs. Marsh was a homemaker and a former bookkeeper of Fitzgerald Underwear. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, former church secretary and hostess and a member of the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Marsh is survived by her husband, William E. Marsh of Fitzgerald; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn Marsh of Fitzgerald, Nancy Marsh & Tom Jackson of Dawsonville and Beth & Tom Sherrer of Dothan, AL; sons and daughter-in-law, Bill & Christi Marsh of Jacksonville, FL and Tom Marsh of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Thomas (Kristy) Sherrer, Will Sherrer, Cynthia Jackson, Liana Jackson, Hannah Marsh, McKenna Marsh, Conner West, Jacob Marsh and Matthew Marsh; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald & Betty Smith of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Connie Watson and Tommie Nichols both of Fitzgerald; sisters-in-law, Margaret Smith of Paducah, KY and Elke Smith Howell of Ocilla and a brother-in-law, Hardy Owens of Fitzgerald. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
