Obituary

MURPHY, John J. “Sean” of Quincy , age 50, died peacefully at home March 20, 2009 after a nine month battle with cancer. Through all of his pain he showed much strength, courage and faith. He is deeply loved and already profoundly missed by his wife Paula (Sutliff) Murphy, three beautiful daughters Jordan Elizabeth, Julia Rose and Emma Katherine of Quincy, his parents James and Anna Murphy of Milton, brother Michael Murphy of Milton and sister Barbara Murphy of Milton, brother Paul and his wife Celeste Murphy of Norwood, brother Brian and his wife Christine Murphy of Braintree, father and mother-in-law Arthur and Marylou Sutliff of Quincy, brothers and sisters-in-law Thomas and his wife Kelle Sutliff of Andover, Edward Sutliff of Billings, Montana, Christopher Sutliff and fiancee Susan Lawlor of Weymouth, Elyse Sutliff and fiancé Michael Sullivan of Quincy, John Sutliff of Quincy, Anthony and his wife Galen Sutliff of Milton. Also survived by nieces and nephews Devan, Marc and Matthew Murphy of Norwood, Brendan and Michael Murphy of Braintree and Matthew, Avery and Haley Sutliff of Andover.

Sean was born and raised in Dorchester and a resident of Quincy for 16 years. He was a graduate of the former Christopher Columbus High School and an employee of the M.B.T.A. for 20 years as both a driver and inspector. He was a proud member of Locals 589 and 600. He was previously a 10 year employee with Polaroid Corporation of Norwood.

Visiting hours in the John J. O’Connor & Son Funeral Home 740 Adams St. (near Gallivan Blvd.) DORCHESTER Friday 4 to 8 pm. Funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Church Dorchester Saturday morning at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Donations can be gratefully made to the Foundation of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) for the research of head and neck cancers, Mass Eye & Ear Infirmary, 243 Charles St., Boston, MA 02114.

Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery.
