James F. Bargasse, 85, of New Bedford died Monday March 23, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Louis and Ruth (Harrison) Bargasse, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church.
Mr. Bargasse was formerly employed by Coyne Laundry for 40 years until his retirement.
He was a graduate of New Bedford High School where he was a member of the 1941 State Championship football team. He later played football for the Murphy Club for several years.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Roderick of Chicago; two brothers, Francis Harrison and Earle Bargasse, both of New Bedford; two sisters, Pauline Cofield of Boston and Doris Jones of Philadelphia; and nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 AM at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 532 County St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
