James A. Buckley, 85, of Little Compton, RI passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Helen D. (Kaye) Buckley.
Born in Newton, MA, son of the late William “Arthur” and Catherine B. (Wilkie) Buckley, he had resided in the Providence / Cranston area until moving to Little Compton 36 years ago. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Army. Prior to retirement in 1984, he was a photo engraver for the Providence Journal and was a member of the Graphic Communications International Union, Providence Local 239M where he received a pin for 50 years of service. Mr. Buckley was a member of the Little Compton Senior Citizens. He enjoyed going to auto races, going out to eat and going out for drives.
Including his wife, survivors include a son: Bryan L. Gomez and friend Cindy Comeau of Little Compton; 3 daughters: Ann M. Buckley of FL, Kathy A. Waite and her husband Douglas of Tiverton, RI and Donna I. Silva of Little Compton; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, March 26, 2009 at the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Wednesday 5 - 8 P.M.
Interment in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Little Compton.
