Obituary

Frank Daniel Battistini, 81, son of the late Armandina (Simonelli) and Frank Albert Battistini, passed away June 20, 2003 at the Carriage House at the Elms, Westerly, RI.

Born where Seamen’s Inne, Mystic presently stands, Frank was proud to have lived in Stonington-Mystic during his lifetime. His memories of the river, the Rossi Velvet Mill, and the college scrapbook of Mystic Seaport’s founder, Dr. Stillman, instilled in him a love of sports and community.

An economics graduate of the University of Connecticut, Frank worked for the IRS and then had a long career in the Connecticut State Tax Department. His interest in politics led him to serve in the Democratic Town Committee and culminated as Stonington’s Judge of Probate from 1978 to 1986.

He also served with the Pawcatuck Lions Club, Stonington Community Center, Stonington Cemetery Association, and was a past master of the Mason’s Asylum Lodge 57, Stonington.

He is survived by his two sisters, Virginia B. Haines and Gloria B. Riley, his nieces and nephew and his betrothed, Gloria S. Bradley. He was predeceased by his wife, Madeline H. Battistini and her son Bruce Adams.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 7pm on Wednesday at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Thursday at 11am at the Mystic Congregational Church, East Main St., Mystic. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden CT 06450 or the Stonington Tricentennial Scholarship Fund, Box 333, Stonington CT 06378. .
