OXFORD-Diane W. (Whitted) Hughes, 58, passed away Friday, March 20 at UMass Medical Center after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 36 years, Roy E. Hughes; her two children, Anna Whitted of Webster and Rosalind Whitted of Worcester; her stepson, Tony Smith of Worcester; three grandchildren; two brothers, Grady Whitted of Butler, AL and Frank Whitted of New Orleans, LA; five sisters, Carrie Williams of New Orleans, LA, Bonnie Rand of Montgomery, AL, Kattie Leal of Texas, Lula Hibbert of Worcester , Emma Pace of Worcester and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was born in Butler, AL the daughter of Adam and Hattie (Rackley) Whitted and moved to Worcester in 1972. Mrs. Hughes worked at UMass Medical Center before retiring due to illness. Previously, she worked at Worcester City Hospital. She was also an ordained minister.
The funeral will be Thursday, March 26 at 11:00 AM at CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. Interment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
