Obituary

Juliette G. (Houde) Dufresne, age 100, died Friday, March 20, 2009 at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Armand H. Dufresne.


She was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, on June 10, 1908, a daughter of the late David and Marie (Dion) Houde. Juliette was a lifelong resident of Lowell and a communicant of the former St. Jean Baptiste Parish.


Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an assistant manager of the cafeteria at the former St. Joseph Hospital for several years.


Juliette enjoyed crocheting and making stuffed animals. She also enjoyed collecting nativity sets and crafts.

Juliette's family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at D'Youville Senior Care for their compassion and care during her time there.


She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Lorraine and Paul Larose of Huntsville, Alabama, Jeannine Gaillardetz of Austin, TX; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gilbert and Carmen Dufresne of Hudson, NH, Gerry and Roselyn Dufresne of Prescott, AZ, and Ronald and Linda Dufresne of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Helen Dufresne of Lowell; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Normand and Paul Dufresne and was pre-deceased by several brothers and sisters


At her request, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Wedesday morning at 10 o'clock at Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish - Ste. Therese Church, Dracut. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to D'Youville Foundation, 981 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
