Obituary

WORCESTER____Stanislaw W. "Stanley" Szydlik, 47, of 95 Ward St., died Tuesday June 10 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, 20 Worcester Center Boulevard.

He leaves his wife of 27 years Jadwiga W. (Maciag) Szydlik; a son, Sgt. Andrew M. Szydlik of Worcester currently serving with his Army National Guard unit in Afghanistan; two daughters, Kristin Szydlik and Ann Szydlik both of Worcester; his parents, Henryk and Zofia (Grzyb) Szydlik of Worcester; two brothers, Tadeusz Szydlik of Sutton and Marian Szydlik of Clearwater, Florida; a sister, Anna Gaska of Sutton; a granddaughter; nephews and nieces. He was born in Zbojna, Poland and has lived here since 1965.

Mr. Szydlik was a wire drawer for Lanoco Specialty Wire Co., of Sutton and its predecessor, Wachusett Wire Co. and worked there since 1976.

He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and was a member and board director of the Polish Naturalization Independent Club.

He was graduated from St. Marys High School.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 13, from Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward St. (www.worcesterfuneral.com), with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday, June 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church Memorial Fund, 34 Ward St., Worcester, 01610.
