WORCESTER-Jose C. Lopez, Jr., 31, of Worcester, died Friday, March 20th in UMass Memorial Hospital. He leaves his mother, Carmen A. and her husband Maylon C. Mayo of Worcester; his father, Jose C. Lopez, Sr. of Southbridge; the loves of his life, his daughter, Layla Elizabeth Lopez and his girlfriend Terin E. Shatos, both of Webster; his grandmother, Pajita Ortiz Lopez of Southbridge; seven sisters, Alyda Justiniano, Marilyn J. Rosario and her husband Sam and Migdalia Lopez-Platt, all of Worcester, Brandy J. Martin of Moira, NY, Corinne R. Vasquez of Plattsburgh, NY, Carrie Rockhill of Moira, NY and Julie C. Levato and Jennifer K. Mayo, both of Charlton; and many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His sister, Darcy Rockhill of Moira, NY, predeceased him.
Jose was born in Southbridge and was a 1996 graduate of Worcester Vocational High School. He was employed by Saint-Gobain Norton Company as a machinist. Jose liked to play football and made the All Star team in high school. He enjoyed entertaining and playing video games with his nieces, body building, and most of all, loved being a father.
The funeral is Wednesday, March 25th at 10:00 AM in St. Paul’s Cathedral, 15 Chatham Street. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 24th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UTMA for Layla Elizabeth Lopez at Bank of America.
