In East Taunton, March 19, 2009 Kenneth A., age 82, a retired state police dispatcher, died at home after a lengthy illness while surrounded by his family. He was married for over 52 years to Jean B. (LaPointe) Poole. Born in Taunton, son of the late Percy & Gladys Poole. Ken was educated in the Berkley school system and graduated from the former Dighton High School in 1944. Ken was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII and recalled during the Korean War as a radioman 3C. From 1956 to 1959 he and his wife lived in Tehran, Iran while he served a tour of duty with the CIA. He also worked at WW Leach Co. and Powers Pontiac, until 1961 when he began his career as a dispatcher with the State Police, retiring in 1992 after 31 years service. In his retirement, he kept himself busy for several years working as a driver for Silver City Dodge and later for JMAC Auto Center. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching the Celtics, playing solitare and most of all spending time with his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children and spouses: Kenneth A. Jr. and his wife Dawn of Taunton, Cindy Swisher and her husband Jim of East Taunton, Vicki Cappiello and her husband Michael of Dighton, and Kevin and his wife Tricia of Bridgewater. He was a loving grandfather to Sarah-Jean Swisher, Jack, Thomas and Christian Poole, and Kyle and Lauren Cappiello and was awaiting the arrival of his first great-granddaughter, Maria DeMoura. He is also survived by his siblings Betty White and Robert Poole, sister-in-law Lorraine Poole and several neices and nephews. He was the brother of the late Stanley Poole and brother-in-law of the late Fred White. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. Taunton, MA. on Monday, March 23rd at 8am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Family Church in East Taunton at 9am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday from 5-8pm. Interment in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
