Obituary

Salem: J. Albert Cimon age 86 of Salem, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness.

Born in Bristol, PA and raised in Salem he was the son of the late Raoul J. and Delia (Theriault) Cimon. A graduate of Salem High in 1940, he lettered in baseball and football and was captain of the 1940 SHS baseball team.

A veteran of World War II, Al served with the Navy as a flight navigator and instructor both in the US and abroad. Following his tour of duty he returned to Salem and was employed by General Electric in both the turbine engine division and the air craft engine group in Lynn until his retirement in 1987.

Al is survived by 2 nephews, Dr. Ralph J. Cimon, III and his wife Jeanne of Hollis, NH, Ronald J. Cimon of Salem and a niece Anne Marie (Cimon) Shay and her husband James of Salem. He is also survived by 5 great-nieces and 6 great-grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph J. Cimon, Jr. and Al's longtime companion Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Starratt.
