Frederick J. Brown, Sr., 74, of Norton passed away on Wednesday March 18, 2009 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence in the presence of his loving family.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on July 4, 1934 he was a son of the late Loyd and Anna (Ewell) Brown.
Fred grew up and was educated in Scituate, Rhode Island and was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954.
Mr. Brown was a self-employed carpenter and was the owner of Golden Hammer Construction in Norton, a company he operated for over 20 years before retiring.
The things Fred enjoyed the most were working and building and providing for his family. He enjoyed watching television, especially his favorite show Walker, Texas Ranger. He had made his home in Norton for the past 33 years and was formerly of Scituate, R.I.
He is survived by his devoted children Frederic J. Brown, Jr. Deborah A. Brown and Lawrence R. Brown all of Rhode Island, Lisa Ndiaye of Woonsocket, R.I., Dawn M. Gardner of Norton, Timothy J. Brown of Florida, Lewis F. Brown of Newport, Vermont, Keith F. Brown of Lyndonville, Vermont, Scott A. Brown of Northbridge, David J. Brown of Florida and Jessica L. Brown of Norton. He was the brother of Ruth Morin of Arizona and the late Lester Brown and Helen Waterman and is also survived by many cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday March 21st from 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will be private.
