Lawrence, MA- Blanche F. (Ciras) Graham Scovill, 91, died on Saturday March 14, 2009 at the Mary Immaculate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lawrence. Born and educated in Lawrence, on April 20, 1917, Blanche was the daughter of Thomas and Justine ( Churlonis) Ciras.
During World War II Blanche served her country in the United States Navy Waves and at the wars end, she was honorably discharged. For many years she was employed with AT&T prior to her retirement.
Blanche was a devout catholic as well as a proud American. She attended St. Monica’s Church in Methuen and was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 122. Her special interests included golfing, skiing, bowling and a good party. Most of all, she adored her grandson, Seth.
Blanche was the former widow of George E. Graham, Sr. and is survived by her husband Bernard S. Scovill of Lawrence. She is also survived by her son, George E. Jr, and his wife Joanne E. Graham of Methuen, a brother, Joseph and his wife Eleanor Ciras of Ft. Myers, FL, and her beloved grandson Seth C. Graham of Methuen, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Scovill was pre-deceased by her brothers, Charles and Alphonse Ciras, a sister Mary Hagerty and a son Bobby Earley.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday,March 18th,2009 from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., in Methuen. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 19th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St Monica’s Church in Methuen, with burial to follow at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make donations in Blanches name to the St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen.
