Obituary

DOROTHEA “Dee” MARGARET COLPAS, 95, homemaker, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2009. Predeceased by her husband Bruce Shirreff Colpas and her brother Henry Christian Poessnecker. Survived by her daughters Marcie Colpas of Phoenix and Susanne E. Turtle of Summertown, TN. Born May 8, 1913. Girl’s Latin School graduate, Boston, 1930; member of the Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, for 70+ years. She worked at the Christian Science Publishing Society prior to her marriage. “Dee” loved sports; baseball was her favorite. She attended Lady’s Day every Friday at Fenway Park, and she didn’t miss a game. Dee and her family lived in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Minneapolis and Buffalo as her husband’s job moved him. After living in Needham, MA for 49 years, she moved to Phoenix in 1996 where she lived with her daughter Marcie. Always an adventurous traveler, Dee and Marcie enjoyed trips to England, Germany, Switzerland, California, Florida and Massachusetts to visit family and friends into her late 80s. We will miss her smile, sense of humor, sparkling eyes and kindness and care for others. Special thanks to her Phoenix caregivers over the years as well as Rose, Maggie and Lisa at Rosedale Gardens, Phoenix, who tenderly and lovingly cared for Dee the final 3 ½ years of her life. Also thanks and gratitude to Hospice of the Valley for their support and amazing care during Dee’s final years. We know you’ve found your home and heavenly rest. Arrangements by Eaton Funeral Home, Needham, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dee’s name may be made to the Campfire Council for Eastern Massachusetts (CFUSA-EMC), 56 Roland St., North Lobby, Boston, MA 02129, or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E.
